Frequently asked questions
Do I have to consult the doctor first before performing the procedure?
If a forceps guided method is going to be applied, it is advisable to consult one of our doctors prior to the operation. The consultation can take place the same day as the operation (your appointment date).
What method do you use for circumcision?
We use the Plastibellmethod and the Forceps Guidedmethod. Please refer to the procedures page for more information about these methods.
I am a parent. Will you provide me with adequate after-care information?
Yes. You will be given all the information you need while you are here. We also give you a pack containing suitable ointments and an instructions booklet on how to care for your child. We also give you additional after-hours contact details.
Is there a long recovery time?
Plastibell - Depending on the age, boys may need to take time off school. Recovery would take between 5-14 days depending on a few factors.
Forceps Guided - As a precaution, older males should take around 1 week off work after circumcision.
Can the operation be carried out at the comfort of my own home?
Generally, we can arrange a home visit if you live in London. Contact us for further details.
What is the recommended age for circumcising a child?
We recommend that a child is circumcisedbetween the ages of 1-3 months old. At this age, the infant would feel minimal pain and the healing process will be quicker. An infant will also have little movement at this age.
Can revision operations be carried out to "tidy-up" earlier bad circumcisions?
Yes, but you should consult the doctor beforehand.
