Pain is a physical sensation felt through special sensory nerve endings following injury or disease. There are two types of pain: acute, which can last for short periods and chronic pain, which is prolonged and can last for months or years. Drugs form the basis of most pain control. Other methods include physiotherapy, acupuncture, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and relaxation.
The Integral Medical Centre offers a pain management service for both acute and chronic pain and the service is provided by a specialist pain relief consultant. Treatment is provided for persistent low back and head and neck pain, pain due to trauma and whiplash injury, headaches and migraine. Pain due to nerve injury, persistent wound pain after surgery (including pelvic pain); pain related to peripheral vascular disease, neuropathic and cancer pain.
We offer a wide range of different treatment methods for different conditions according to the consultant's decision and patients preference. These options include; epidural injections, nerve root blocks, surgery, epiduroscopy, trigger point injections, vertebroplasty, facet joint injections, IDET, intrathecal morphine pump, anticonvulsants, antidepressants and sympathetic blocks.
