Career History: I am a general surgeon with a special interest in coloproctology and laparoscopic surgery. I have worked with a variety of surgeons with different surgical interests. My main higher surgical training was in the North East Thames region. I also trained in coloproctology, inflammatory bowel disease and ano-rectal functional disorders at the Royal Free Hospital in London. My training at Whipps Cross Hospital extended my experience in laparoscopic surgery, especially cholesystectomy (key-hole surgery for gall bladders) and hernia repair surgery.
I carry out keyhole hernia repair and keyhole gall bladder repair, together with a variety of general surgical procedures. I also perform all forms of bowel surgery.

Career History: Dr Salmasi is a consultant hypnotherapist and master practitioner in neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and a cardiologist. Being a clinician himself makes him in a position to know and understand diseases and their management both clinically using clinical and medical skills and expertise and additionally can apply hypnosis in his management with success, when and if needed.
Dr. Salmasi trained in Cardiology at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London where he worked between 1976 and 1990. In 1991, he joined the cardiology department at the Central Middlesex Hospital where he has worked until now. He stablished the first Hypertension clinic in the region in 2001 which has been successfully running. His interest in hypnotherapy became a reality when he learnt and mastered the technique between 1997 and 1998 at the Atkinson Ball College of Hypnotherapy. In 2000 he became a Master Practitioner in NLP trained by Michael Breen, Paul McKenna and the founder of NLP, Richard Bandler. Not only in the United Kingdom Dr Salmasi is an approved hypnotherapist, but he is also an American Board Certified consultant in Hypnotherapy and in NLP. Dr Salmasi established a hypnotherapy clinic at the Central Middlesex Hospital where he mainly treated smoking because of the contribution of this risk factor to cardiovascular illnesses. He successfully published an article in the Journal of Public Health and Medicine based on his findings and experience in cessation of smoking.

Carotid surgery and surgery for recurrent varicose veins are my main vascular interest. I have been engaged in research into the prevention of recurrence of varicose veins after surgery.
